National Diploma in ECD – enrolment and fees

Entry Requirements, Fees, and Application download

All applicants are interviewed as part of the application process. The aim of the interview is to establish the suitability of the applicant, for instance in connection with attitudes and values, motivation for the teaching profession, previous qualifications, etc.

The applicant's ability to cope with the level of the course needs to be established, evidence of which can be found in a matriculation certificate with exemption or a sufficient aggregate in relevant subjects. An English test may be part of the selection process.

Course fees and further expenses

At the time of submitting an application form (which can be after the interview) a non-refundable fee of R 100 is payable. After acceptance on the course, and prior to starting the lessons, a deposit is required of R 3,000. This deposit is refundable on completion of the course, having fulfilled all contractual obligations. The annual course fees then become payable in 10 monthly instalments, from January to October each year.

The course fees are reviewed annually, and the amounts for 2009 are:
10 x R 1,650 = R 16,500

These fees include a levy for course materials, coffee/tea, etc.

Limited bursaries are available for South Africans from disadvantaged backgrounds. An application may be submitted to Helen Stotko, chairperson of the bursary committee.

Possible further expenses: R 800 – R 1,000

  • Purchasing some books and resource materials
  • A descant recorder for the music sessions
  • Travel expenses for practicals, a few excursions, etc.
