Continuing Education – Personal & Professional
Introduction
One way the Centre for Creative Education builds and sustains community is by making opportunities
for individuals to move forward. We
- Facilitate meetings, conferences and forums
- Bring in outside individuals and organisations to run workshops
- Offer coursework for the general public and for teachers seeking in-service training or
qualification upgrades.
Whatever our social, economic or racial background, we need to grow and bring healing,
both in our own lives and in the lives of those around us. South Africa is a dynamic,
diverse society with an abundance of hope – we invite you to join in this spirit of
transformation by partaking in one of the offerings listed below. For more information, call
our main number, 021-797-6802.
We publish these same opportunities in our e-mail NewsFlash, which is sent out 5 – 10
times a year. If you would like to stay informed in this way, click here to subscribe
through your e-mail program. Let us know if you prefer to receive plain text format, without
pictures and images. You may need to add our e-mail address, newsflash@cfce.org.za, to your contact
list so that the subscription won't be treated as spam and blocked .
Short Course: Personal Leadership Through Art
3 - 13 January 2008 (excluding 6 and 10 January), R4700

Personal relationships and groups are changing a great deal nowadays. We are faced with new challenges and need to be able to respond in a lively way.
The course on Personal Leadership will teach you how to handle these challenges and to find creative solutions.
The course content leads one from reactive to pro-active, from incapable to capable and from creative to creating. The student works experientially with painting, drawing and modeling, voice expression, theatre improvisations, dance and movement, creative writing and co-counselling.
Real change is change from within.
Workshop Themes -
- Exercise the art of personal leadership
- Discover your patterns and convictions
- Recognize your core qualities
- Develop consideration for the greater whole
Facilitators: Marline de la Rive, Marlies te Witt, Gre Terpstra and Ellen Landeweert.
For further information visit www.leadershipthroughart.nl or contact info@cfce.org.za, 021-797-6802 (CCE main number).
Experience with artwork is not necessary for taking this course - curiosity is!
Professional Development Course: Bridging Polarities through Art
The first South African facilitated training "Bridging Polarities through Art" began in July 2007. There are 16 participants all working in a field where this training can be used to assist their work. They will complete 4 modules by December 2008.
In the first module they were taken on a journey into process orientated art through the mediums of chalk, pastel, charcoal, clay and painting. Basic co-counselling skills were practised, which lays the foundation for the coming modules and the work that these facilitators will do once their training is completed. Also included in this training is music, dance, movement and writing.
"Guided inwards by the colours
Blending and creating rainbows
the artist within awakens and rejoices."
- Eileen Parker, course participant
There is a possibility for 2 new participants (people working in a field of
care) to join into the training in Module 2, if they are able to fulfil certain requirements. Please contact Elaine via email, elaine@nitric.co.za or Ilana via telephone, 021 794 5663.
An Art of Movement: Eurythmy for Adults
Centre for Creative Education, through the expertise of one of Cape Town's
professional eurythmists Cobie Roelvert, now offers a public
eurythmy class Mondays, 5:15 - 6:15 pm.
In class we work with exercises that bring an awareness of the wholeness of centre and
periphery. We build on this foundation to develop one's inner life, to strengthen one's
life-forces, and to gain increased understanding of eurythmy as an art form and means
of healing.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Cobie, 021-788-9124.
The Foundation Year Course
First Year full-time and part-time students at our Centre share common modules that lay a foundation
for further study. The material taught (and experienced!) in these modules is enriching for a variety
of persons, including parents, social science professionals, artists, business persons seeking a balance
in their lives, and indeed anyone who seeks to embrace life whole-heartedly and head-on.
Some participants will commit to the entire 10-month course (Feb – Nov), while others choose to
take only a module or two. Pricing varies from module to module, depending on length.
We encourage you to have a look at the module descriptions.
